3 Destinations You Must Visit in Your Lifetime
The stunning temples of Egypt.
Some places don’t just inspire wanderlust, they feel like stepping into another world. When I think about the destinations that have truly left me speechless, three come to mind immediately: Rome, Egypt, and Australia. Each offers something unforgettable… whether it’s ancient history, jaw-dropping natural wonders, or a culture that stays with you long after your plane lands home.
These are the three places I believe everyone should visit in their lifetime.
1. Rome: History on Every Corner
I only spent four days in Rome, but it felt like I’d travelled through centuries of history in that short time. Rome is the kind of city that leaves you both full of pasta and full of awe.
Of course, the Colosseum is the headline act. Walking inside, I couldn’t help but imagine gladiators battling all those years ago. But what makes Rome special is how history seems to spill onto every corner. You’ll wander down a cobbled street and suddenly stumble across ancient ruins, hidden frescoes in a cathedral, or even underground archaeological sites beneath restaurants and hotels.
Pro Tip: Don’t just tick off the big landmarks… wander, get lost, and peek into smaller churches and ruins. They’re often just as fascinating as the main attractions.
Must-See Highlights in Rome
The Colosseum & Roman Forum - Rome’s living time machine.
The Pantheon - One of the most incredible architectural feats in the world.
The Vatican Museums & St. Peter’s Basilica - Art, history, and spirituality rolled into one.
Trevi Fountain - Toss a coin and make a wish (yes, it’s touristy, but magical).
Piazza Navona & Trastevere - Perfect for slow evenings, Aperol spritz in hand.
The Colosseum in Rome, Italy.
2. Egypt: Mysteries of an Ancient Civilisation
Egypt feels like stepping into a history book, but one that still holds plenty of unanswered questions. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by the Pyramids of Giza, and seeing them in person was nothing short of surreal. Rising up beyond the Cairo skyline, their scale left me speechless.
And it’s not just the pyramids. Sailing on a felucca on the Nile River, exploring the tombs of pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings, or learning how to understand hieroglyphics… it all feels like entering a world that continues to puzzle archaeologists and travellers alike.
Travel Tip: Egypt is incredible but requires a bit more caution than Rome or Australia. Stick with guided tours, avoid wandering at night in unfamiliar areas, and always book experiences through reputable operators.
Must-See Highlights in Egypt
The Pyramids of Giza & the Sphinx - Icons of human achievement.
The Valley of the Kings in Luxor - Tombs of pharaohs etched with hieroglyphs.
A Nile River Cruise - The best way to see temples and life along the river.
Abu Simbel Temples - Monumental statues carved into rock.
Egyptian Museum, Cairo - Home to King Tutankhamun’s treasures.
A bucket list moment exploring the Pyramids in Egypt.
3. Australia: A World in One Country
Yes, I’m biased… I live here. But if you ask me, Australia deserves a spot on everyone’s lifetime bucket list. It’s a country so vast and diverse that you’ll never run out of things to explore.
Think world-class beaches like Whitehaven, ancient rainforests in Queensland, rugged outback landscapes in the Red Centre, and the wonder of the Great Barrier Reef. Not to mention our incredible wildlife… you’ll spot kangaroos, koalas, wombats, and even quokkas (aka the happiest animal in the world).
But what makes Australia truly special is its culture. From Indigenous heritage (the oldest continuing civilisation on Earth), to its buzzing foodie scene and famous coffee culture, Australia is as much about connection as it is about adventure.
Travel Tip: Our cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth) are brilliant, but don’t skip the regions. Some of the best experiences happen when you leave the city behind.
Must-See Highlights in Australia
Sydney Harbour & the Opera House - Bucket list icons.
Great Barrier Reef - A natural wonder of the world.
Uluru (Ayers Rock) - Sacred, spiritual, and awe-inspiring.
Tasmania’s National Parks - Wild and untouched beauty.
The Great Ocean Road - Road tripping heaven.
Uluru, the red centre of Australia.
